Essential Products Needed to Detail Your Car at Home

Between dirt, pollen, and the not so occasional bird droppings, keeping your car looking its best during the spring and summer months can sometimes be a hassle. Instead of shelling out money to go to a car wash each time, save yourself money by washing and detailing your car at home!

Here are some of our favorite products to keep your car looking great inside, and out!

Chemical Guys Snow Foam Car Wash

If you’re taking the time to wash your car at home, make sure to take the time and find an appropriate soap. While dishwashing soap like Dawn may be effective in removing old layers of wax due to its grease-cutting attributes, you do not want to use this for each wash. Using a product like Snow Foam Auto Wash will remove the unwanted dirt without affecting your wax.

Relentless Drive Ultimate Car Wash Mitt

Using the right soap is only half the battle. If you’re applying the best car soap in the world you will still end up with a scratched car using a terry cloth rag or a similarly rough product. To ensure the safety of your paint job, we recommend always using a microfiber wash mitt. Our favorite brand for this happens to be Relentless Drive, which sells their mitts in packs of two; just in case you have the overwhelming urge to double fist when cleaning.

Hero Brush

For those of you without children to do the dirty work, Brush Hero is a miracle worker for wheels and other hard to reach places. Requiring only a garden hose and including a stiff and soft bristle head, this is well worth the investment.

Mothers 07240 California Gold Clay Bar System

For tree sap, paint overspray, and other environmental deposits, Mothers Clay Kit can help remove unwanted debris that normal washing and polishing cannot. Before using the clay bar, use the included detailer to thoroughly lubricate a small section, and afterward make sure to dry off any excess detailer using the included microfiber towel.

Chemical Guys Professional Grade Premium Microfiber Towel

Although your super soft old t-shirts may seem like the perfect match to detail and dry your car, trust us – they’re not. While you may not see it immediately, using shirts and rags can scratch the surface of your paint and create a massive headache for you. Featuring a short nap side and a high nap side, Chemical Guys microfiber towels make short work of any buffing, detailing, or drying tasks at hand.

CarGuys Hybrid Wax Sealant

Once the cleaning is done, keep your car looking great and protected by the elements by applying a top coat polish and sealer wax. Here at Glassy, we highly recommend CarGuys Hybrid Wax Sealant. Save yourself an exuberant amount of time by avoiding traditional wax, this hybrid wax will have you done in no time.

CarGuys Wheel and Tire Cleaner

When elbow grease simply doesn’t cut it, CarGuys Wheel and Tire Cleaner is our go-to product. For the toughest of stains and environmental debris, use this in combination with the Hero Brush to have your wheels looking brand new again.

Fuzzy Dice

Because these never go out of style.
