Chevrolet G Series Van Windshield Replacement Cost
The Chevrolet G Series Van, also known as the Chevy Van, debuted in 1964, revolutionizing the utility vehicle landscape. Initially offered as a simple cargo van designed for business use, it evolved into a versatile vehicle catering to families and businesses alike, with production running until 1996. Known for its ample cargo space and reliable performance, the G Series Van gradually became a staple in various sectors, from ambulance services to camper conversions. An interesting trivia about these vans is their use in the popular 1980s show “The A-Team,” which featured a customized black and red-striped version.
When considering the cost of windshield replacement for the Chevrolet G Series Van, several key factors come into play. The presence of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in newer vehicles can significantly affect the replacement cost. While the G Series Van ceased production before ADAS became mainstream, replacement parts for custom-converted units that integrate modern technologies might involve recalibration of sensors and cameras, thus elevating costs.
The trim level of the van also impacts pricing. Higher trim levels often include specialized features that can complicate the windshield replacement process. This may include unique glass types or additional tints. Additionally, parts availability is a crucial factor; older model years, especially those with major design overhauls such as the 1971 redesign with increased windshield space, often face scarcity of compatible replacement parts, pushing prices upward.
Availability of aftermarket parts is another component affecting prices. For earlier models like the 1964 debut van, aftermarket options remain limited, whereas later models, specifically post-198 iterations, might have more readily available third-party alternatives due to broader production lifecycles. Nevertheless, each model year, with its distinct traits and manufacturing adjustments, introduces specific considerations for windshield replacement costs, requiring thorough assessment to navigate competitive pricing.

Chevrolet G Series Van Average Windshield Replacement Cost By Year
Not all windshields are built—or priced—the same. The cost to replace the glass on a Chevrolet G Series Van depends on its year, trim level, and the amount of technology integrated into the windshield itself. Our average pricing reflects real-world replacement data across thousands of vehicles, then adjusts for the specific features found on your Chevrolet G Series Van. Here’s how the range breaks down:
High-End Range
Some Chevrolet G Series Van configurations—especially newer or premium trims—come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as lane-keeping cameras, rain sensors, heated glass, or heads-up displays.
These require OEM-grade glass and a full ADAS recalibration after installation. Because of the precision equipment and labor involved, these versions land at the top end of the price range.
Mid-Range
Many modern Chevrolet G Series Van vehicles include a few key sensors, like forward-collision or lane-departure cameras, but don’t need OEM glass. These jobs involve some recalibration and additional setup beyond a simple install, which places them in the middle of the pricing spectrum.
Low-End Range
Base trims or older Chevrolet G Series Van versions usually feature plain laminated glass with no built-in electronics. These are the most straightforward to replace, requiring no recalibration or specialty parts, and therefore fall in the lowest cost tier.

They showed up on time, were professional, and very honest. A few months ago, the wire in my front driver-side window popped, and I had it repaired by another mechanic—but he clearly didn’t know what he was doing because it broke again. Glass Brothers quoted me $300 to replace the regulator based on my description of the issue. When they arrived, they found the regulator was actually still good—the previous repairman just hadn’t put the window back into the clips. Instead of charging me the full $300, they adjusted the price to $125 since the $165 regulator wasn’t needed.

Had my truck window broken out Friday night and they were able to replace it Monday morning and at a much better price than other places I got quotes from. Great service and price. I hope I don’t need their service again but if I do they will be the first place I call.
