Ford Mustang Windshield Replacement Cost

The Ford Mustang, first unveiled in 1964, revolutionized the automotive landscape as the original “pony car,” combining performance, affordability, and stunning design. Notably, it achieved monumental success almost immediately, with over one million units sold within its first two years. The Mustang’s legacy is fortified by its rich history and cultural significance, with appearances in movies, songs, and racing circuits worldwide.

When evaluating the windshield replacement cost for a Ford Mustang, several factors come into play. One critical factor is the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features that have been integrated into newer models. For instance, starting with the 2015 model year, a major redesign introduced a range of sensors and cameras in the windshield, necessitating more sophisticated glass and specialized calibration post-installation. These features inevitably drive up the cost of replacements, as the technology requires precise alignment and software integration.

Trim levels also play a significant role in the overall pricing for a windshield replacement. High-end trims, often equipped with additional technology such as heated windshields or soundproofing layers, can be significantly more expensive to replace than their base model counterparts. Starting in 218, certain Mustang trims began offering optional packages that included these advanced windshield features, directly impacting repair and replacement costs.

The availability of aftermarket parts can affect the price as well. While older Mustang models might have a wide range of economical aftermarket options, newer models with intricate ADAS features typically require original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts to ensure compatibility and functionality. The shift towards more complex windshield components in recent years has seen a corresponding decrease in suitable aftermarket alternatives, pushing costs higher for newer models.

Changes across different model years can also influence the windshield replacement cost, especially when significant redesigns occur. The Mustang’s 25 retro-themed redesign and the 21 refresh introduced less technologically complex windshields, whereas the 22 model’s updated technology package necessitates precise installations, potentially increasing service costs. Understanding these elements is crucial for estimating the windshield replacement cost of any Ford Mustang accurately.

Ford Mustang Average Windshield Replacement Cost By Year

Not all windshields are built—or priced—the same. The cost to replace the glass on a Ford Mustang depends on its year, trim level, and the amount of technology integrated into the windshield itself. Our average pricing reflects real-world replacement data across thousands of vehicles, then adjusts for the specific features found on your Ford Mustang. Here’s how the range breaks down:

High-End Range

Some Ford Mustang configurations—especially newer or premium trims—come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as lane-keeping cameras, rain sensors, heated glass, or heads-up displays.

These require OEM-grade glass and a full ADAS recalibration after installation. Because of the precision equipment and labor involved, these versions land at the top end of the price range.

Mid-Range

Many modern Ford Mustang vehicles include a few key sensors, like forward-collision or lane-departure cameras, but don’t need OEM glass. These jobs involve some recalibration and additional setup beyond a simple install, which places them in the middle of the pricing spectrum.

Low-End Range

Base trims or older Ford Mustang versions usually feature plain laminated glass with no built-in electronics. These are the most straightforward to replace, requiring no recalibration or specialty parts, and therefore fall in the lowest cost tier.

Very pleased with the installation. Professionally done by a seasoned installer in my driveway, and all for over $200 less than the Safelite quote. I hope I don’t have another cracked windshield, but if I do I know where I will go to get it replaced.

Chris was super nice when he called to let me know he was on the way. I was at work while the replacement was being done, but I arrived home to see a nice new windshield. I will say one thing, he did get some of the black sealant on the roof and hood of my vehicle but I was able to get it off ..the customer service I've received from Glass America has been phenomenal but please maybe re-iterate to the employees about being more vigilant about dripping wet sealant on car paint. No worries though and I'm not trying to be nasty. Thanks Chris otherwise a great job. Thanks so much Glass America!
