Hyundai Starex Windshield Replacement Cost

The Hyundai Starex, also known as the Hyundai H-1 in some markets, was first introduced in 1997 as a versatile multi-purpose vehicle aimed at both commercial and passenger transport needs. Over the years, it has garnered popularity in markets around the globe for its spacious interior and reliable performance. An interesting trivia point is that the Starex was initially launched to replace the Hyundai Grace, carrying forward Hyundai’s lineage of durable vans intended for both family and freight needs.

When it comes to windshield replacement cost for a Hyundai Starex, several factors come into play. One significant factor is the presence of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking. These features are particularly influential in models from 2018 onwards when these advanced sensors became standard or optional add-ons. The integration of such technology can considerably increase the cost of windshield replacements, as recalibration of these systems is often required.

Trim levels also play a crucial role in the overall replacement cost. Higher-end trims, which may include features like rain-sensing wipers or augmented HUDs, tend to be more expensive due to the complexity and precision required in manufacturing and fitting the windshields. For instance, a Starex from the Premium or upper-tier trim level could see higher costs compared to base models.

The availability of aftermarket parts can also affect pricing. Older Starex models, such as those produced before the 2007 significant redesign, might have more affordable windshield options due to a greater availability of third-party components. In contrast, newer models might necessitate OEM parts, which can be more costly due to their specific fit and design requirements.

Additionally, model year changes can significantly influence replacement costs. For example, the 2008 redesign introduced a more modern aesthetic and enhanced aerodynamics, potentially affecting windshield shape and consequently the replacement process and price. The introduction of new technology and safety features in subsequent years, particularly after 2018, has meant more complex windshields, thereby escalating costs.

In summary, Hyundai Starex’s windshield replacement cost is influenced by factors such as ADAS technology, trim levels, and the availability of aftermarket parts. Model year changes, especially those involving redesigns and new safety features, further contribute to the variability in pricing.

Hyundai Starex Average Windshield Replacement Cost By Year

Not all windshields are built—or priced—the same. The cost to replace the glass on a Hyundai Starex depends on its year, trim level, and the amount of technology integrated into the windshield itself. Our average pricing reflects real-world replacement data across thousands of vehicles, then adjusts for the specific features found on your Hyundai Starex. Here’s how the range breaks down:

High-End Range

Some Hyundai Starex configurations—especially newer or premium trims—come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as lane-keeping cameras, rain sensors, heated glass, or heads-up displays.

These require OEM-grade glass and a full ADAS recalibration after installation. Because of the precision equipment and labor involved, these versions land at the top end of the price range.

Mid-Range

Many modern Hyundai Starex vehicles include a few key sensors, like forward-collision or lane-departure cameras, but don’t need OEM glass. These jobs involve some recalibration and additional setup beyond a simple install, which places them in the middle of the pricing spectrum.

Low-End Range

Base trims or older Hyundai Starex versions usually feature plain laminated glass with no built-in electronics. These are the most straightforward to replace, requiring no recalibration or specialty parts, and therefore fall in the lowest cost tier.

All in all, I'm very happy with my experience with The Auto Glass Guy. After comparing prices from other places, I feel like I got the best deal here. I had a broken driver-side window and a damaged windshield. I had just the driver-side window replaced. The technician made some very good suggestions in regard to a "bandaid solution" for the windshield until I could get it replaced. Since I have a high deductible for my comprehensive insurance, I wanted to pay out of pocket and avoid filing a claim. I gladly recommend The Auto Glass Guy to anyone who needs a new car window or windshield.
