What changes the price for a Ford Expedition

  • Camera calibration. Ford’s position statement says the camera must be calibrated whenever the windshield is replaced — ask the shop to include it in the Expedition quote.
  • Genuine glass. On a Expedition this matters: Ford says unapproved windshields can distort the camera’s view and cause system failure or unintended braking; the price gap is covered in our OEM vs. aftermarket comparison.
  • Model year. In our data the 1997–2006 Expedition models average $294 while 2017–2025 cars average $457.
  • Separate calibration fee. If your Expedition has a windshield camera, the recalibration is a line of its own; this guide gives typical prices.

Ford Expedition: repair or replace?

A chip smaller than a quarter or a crack shorter than about three inches can usually be repaired — faster and far cheaper than a full replacement. Replacement is the safer choice when the damage is longer than a dollar bill, sits in the driver’s line of sight, reaches the edge of the glass (which weakens the whole windshield), or goes through both layers. A qualified shop can confirm which option your Ford Expedition qualifies for.

Does insurance cover a Ford Expedition windshield?

Whether insurance covers your Ford Expedition windshield depends on your comprehensive coverage and deductible. A few states require insurers to waive the glass deductible entirely, and some insurers waive it for small chip repairs. See our guides to states with zero deductible for comprehensive glass claims and states with glass endorsement coverage to check the rules in your state.
