What changes the price for a Ford Mustang
- Ford Co-Pilot360 on the Mustang. A forward camera (Image Processing Module A) mounted near the rearview mirror is part of the system, and Ford’s position statement says the camera must be calibrated whenever the windshield is replaced.
- OEM vs. aftermarket glass. For the Mustang, Ford says unapproved windshields can distort the camera’s view and cause system failure or unintended braking. See what OEM, OEE and aftermarket glass actually cost before choosing glass for your Mustang.
- Body style. Different body styles use different glass: in the recent quotes, 2 Door Convertible versions were quoted $289–$300 and 2 Door Coupe versions $202–$300.
- Model year. In our data the 1986–1998 Mustang models average $300 while 2011–2021 cars average $285.
- Separate calibration fee. If your Mustang has a windshield camera, the recalibration is a line of its own; this guide gives typical prices.

Ford Mustang: repair or replace?
A chip smaller than a quarter or a crack shorter than about three inches can usually be repaired — faster and far cheaper than a full replacement. Replacement is the safer choice when the damage is longer than a dollar bill, sits in the driver’s line of sight, reaches the edge of the glass (which weakens the whole windshield), or goes through both layers. A qualified shop can confirm which option your Ford Mustang qualifies for.
Does insurance cover a Ford Mustang windshield?
Whether insurance covers your Ford Mustang windshield depends on your comprehensive coverage and deductible. A few states require insurers to waive the glass deductible entirely, and some insurers waive it for small chip repairs. See our guides to states with zero deductible for comprehensive glass claims and states with glass endorsement coverage to check the rules in your state.
