Hyundai Kona Windshield Replacement Cost
The Hyundai Kona, introduced in 2017, quickly gained recognition for its bold design and efficient performance. Named after the vibrant district on the island of Hawaii, the Kona was a departure from the typical SUV design, bringing a fresh and youthful appeal to Hyundai’s lineup. An interesting trivia is that the Kona was Hyundai’s first global subcompact SUV, designed with urban adventurers in mind.
When considering the “windshield replacement cost” for a Hyundai Kona, various factors come into play. The constant evolution of the model, particularly in terms of technological enhancements, significantly influences replacement expenses. For instance, the 2021 Kona underwent a facelift, introducing advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) like lane-keeping assist and forward collision warning. Windshields integrated with sensors and cameras to support these systems necessitate more costly replacements due to the need for precise calibration.
Trim levels also play a crucial role in determining the windshield replacement cost. Higher trims such as the Limited or N Line often include more sophisticated technology and features, leading to increased costs compared to base models like the SE. Furthermore, availability of aftermarket parts can affect pricing. While OEM parts are generally recommended for accuracy and quality, they tend to be pricier compared to aftermarket options. However, access to these parts may vary based on market availability and distribution channels.
Significant model year changes, notably in 2023 with additional ADAS features and design tweaks, further impact the “windshield replacement cost”. Such updates typically result in newer, more complex windshields that require specialized care and tools for replacement. Understanding these factors is essential for Hyundai Kona owners looking to budget for potential windshield replacements.

Hyundai Kona Windshield Replacement Cost By Year
Not all windshields are created equal, so it makes sense that not all replacements cost the same. Depending on the vehicle and the technology built into the glass, replacement prices can vary significantly. Here’s how we break it down:
High-End Range
Some vehicles—especially newer or luxury models—are equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), like lane-keeping cameras, rain sensors, heads-up displays, and built-in heating elements. These features require original equipment manufacturer (OEM) glass and a complete ADAS recalibration after installation. Because of the specialized parts and labor involved, these replacements fall at the top end of the price range.
Mid-Range
Many modern cars come with a few standard features—such as forward collision sensors or lane departure cameras—that require basic recalibration after the windshield is replaced. These windshields typically don’t require OEM glass but do involve some extra steps beyond a simple install, which puts them in the moderate price range.
Low-End Range
Older vehicles or base models often have a simpler setup: plain laminated glass without any built-in electronics or sensors. These windshields are the most straightforward to replace, and therefore, fall into the lowest price tier.
Year | Maximum Price | Average Price | Minimum Price |
---|---|---|---|
2024 | $650.00 | $550.00 | $460.00 |
2023 | $640.00 | $580.00 | $310.00 |
2022 | $640.00 | $580.00 | $310.00 |
2021 | $660.00 | $570.00 | $310.00 |
2020 | $660.00 | $570.00 | $310.00 |
2019 | $660.00 | $570.00 | $310.00 |
2018 | $660.00 | $570.00 | $310.00 |

All in all, I'm very happy with my experience with The Auto Glass Guy. After comparing prices from other places, I feel like I got the best deal here. I had a broken driver-side window and a damaged windshield. I had just the driver-side window replaced. The technician made some very good suggestions in regard to a "bandaid solution" for the windshield until I could get it replaced. Since I have a high deductible for my comprehensive insurance, I wanted to pay out of pocket and avoid filing a claim. I gladly recommend The Auto Glass Guy to anyone who needs a new car window or windshield.
