Lexus RX 450h: repair or replace?

Windshield replacement for a Lexus RX 450h was quoted at $389–$686 in Auto Glass Estimator’s 8 most recent quotes (September 2026). A 2019 Lexus RX 450h 4 Door Utility drew the top quote ($686) and a 2022 Lexus RX 450h 4 Door Utility the lowest ($389). On Lexus Safety System+-equipped cars the windshield camera must be recalibrated after replacement, which pushes newer RX 450h models up the range. Updated September 2026.

What changes the price for a Lexus RX 450h

• Windshield-mounted camera. On the RX 450h, Lexus Safety System+ uses a forward recognition camera mounted at the top of the windshield; Lexus requires the forward recognition camera to be calibrated whenever the windshield is removed or replaced. Toyota said LSS+ would be standard on almost every Lexus model by the end of 2017 — worth checking which year your RX 450h is.
• Genuine glass. On a RX 450h this matters: Lexus warns that with non-genuine glass the camera bracket or ceramic border may not match, so the camera cannot be installed or see properly; the price gap is covered in our OEM vs. aftermarket comparison.
• Separate calibration fee. If your RX 450h has a windshield camera, the recalibration is a line of its own; this guide gives typical prices.

Lexus RX 450h: repair or replace?

A chip smaller than a quarter or a crack shorter than about three inches can usually be repaired — faster and far cheaper than a full replacement. Replacement is the safer choice when the damage is longer than a dollar bill, sits in the driver’s line of sight, reaches the edge of the glass (which weakens the whole windshield), or goes through both layers. A qualified shop can confirm which option your Lexus RX 450h qualifies for.

Does insurance cover a Lexus RX 450h windshield?

Whether insurance covers your Lexus RX 450h windshield depends on your comprehensive coverage and deductible. A few states require insurers to waive the glass deductible entirely, and some insurers waive it for small chip repairs. See our guides to states with zero deductible for comprehensive glass claims and states with glass endorsement coverage to check the rules in your state.
