Chevrolet Impala SS Windshield Replacement Cost
The Chevrolet Impala SS, initially introduced in 1961, has long been a symbol of American automotive power and prestige. This iconic model was reborn in 1994, after a hiatus, as a high-performance version of the popular Impala series, delighting car enthusiasts with its raw power and stylish design. Originally a trim option for the Chevrolet Impala, the SS became a legend in its own right with each new generation featuring innovations that set it apart from ordinary sedans.
When considering windshield replacement costs for the Chevrolet Impala SS, several factors play a crucial role. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are significant contributors to the cost. Starting from the 2014 model year, when a major redesign included features like lane departure warnings and collision alert systems, the complexity of these systems impacted the cost of windshields. These functions often require specialized windshields with built-in sensors and cameras, leading to higher replacement costs.
Trim levels also influence pricing. Higher trims, equipped with additional technological integrations, often demand more complex and thus costlier windshield replacements. For instance, later model year Impala SS vehicles with luxury amenities and advanced features like head-up displays have windshields embedded with more sophisticated technology.
The availability of aftermarket parts can also affect windshield replacement expenses. While older models might benefit from a more abundant supply of aftermarket options, leading to competitive pricing, newer models, particularly post-redesign ones, may rely heavily on OEM parts. As a result, the rarity of some components can drive up prices.
Changes in model years, especially during significant redesigns like the ones experienced by the Impala SS, influence the overall costs involved in replacing windshields. Each evolution, while enhancing the vehicle’s functionality and safety, can lead to variations in replacement part costs due to new technological inclusions and differing supply availability. As such, understanding the specifics of your Impala SS model and trim is key when assessing windshield replacement costs.

Chevrolet Impala SS Average Windshield Replacement Cost By Year
Not all windshields are built—or priced—the same. The cost to replace the glass on a Chevrolet Impala SS depends on its year, trim level, and the amount of technology integrated into the windshield itself. Our average pricing reflects real-world replacement data across thousands of vehicles, then adjusts for the specific features found on your Chevrolet Impala SS. Here’s how the range breaks down:
High-End Range
Some Chevrolet Impala SS configurations—especially newer or premium trims—come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as lane-keeping cameras, rain sensors, heated glass, or heads-up displays.
These require OEM-grade glass and a full ADAS recalibration after installation. Because of the precision equipment and labor involved, these versions land at the top end of the price range.
Mid-Range
Many modern Chevrolet Impala SS vehicles include a few key sensors, like forward-collision or lane-departure cameras, but don’t need OEM glass. These jobs involve some recalibration and additional setup beyond a simple install, which places them in the middle of the pricing spectrum.
Low-End Range
Base trims or older Chevrolet Impala SS versions usually feature plain laminated glass with no built-in electronics. These are the most straightforward to replace, requiring no recalibration or specialty parts, and therefore fall in the lowest cost tier.
| Year | Average Price |
|---|---|
| 1994 | $279.37 |
| 1996 | $286.43 |
Chevrolet Impala SS: repair or replace?
A chip smaller than a quarter or a crack shorter than about three inches can usually be repaired — faster and far cheaper than a full replacement. Replacement is the safer choice when the damage is longer than a dollar bill, sits in the driver’s line of sight, reaches the edge of the glass (which weakens the whole windshield), or goes through both layers. A qualified shop can confirm which option your Chevrolet Impala SS qualifies for.
Does insurance cover a Chevrolet Impala SS windshield?
Whether insurance covers your Chevrolet Impala SS windshield depends on your comprehensive coverage and deductible. A few states require insurers to waive the glass deductible entirely, and some insurers waive it for small chip repairs. See our guides to states with zero deductible for comprehensive glass claims and states with glass endorsement coverage to check the rules in your state.

They showed up on time, were professional, and very honest. A few months ago, the wire in my front driver-side window popped, and I had it repaired by another mechanic—but he clearly didn’t know what he was doing because it broke again. Glass Brothers quoted me $300 to replace the regulator based on my description of the issue. When they arrived, they found the regulator was actually still good—the previous repairman just hadn’t put the window back into the clips. Instead of charging me the full $300, they adjusted the price to $125 since the $165 regulator wasn’t needed.

Had my truck window broken out Friday night and they were able to replace it Monday morning and at a much better price than other places I got quotes from. Great service and price. I hope I don’t need their service again but if I do they will be the first place I call.
