Chevrolet King Aluminum Windshield Replacement Cost
The Chevrolet King Aluminum, often celebrated for its innovative design and rich automotive heritage, was introduced in the 1980s as a bold venture into lightweight vehicle manufacturing. This model quickly gained a reputation for combining impressive durability with enhanced fuel efficiency, thanks to its aluminum construction. A noteworthy trivia is that the King Aluminum was one of the earliest adopters of advanced materials, setting the stage for future automotive designs.
When considering the windshield replacement cost for a Chevrolet King Aluminum, several key factors play a crucial role. First, the incorporation of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in recent model years significantly impacts the overall pricing. Features like lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking often rely on sensors embedded within or around the windshield, which increases the complexity and cost of replacement.
Trim levels also affect windshield replacement costs. Higher trims that come with additional features or specialized glass, such as acoustic or UV-filtering properties, generally see higher replacement expenses. The King Aluminum’s multiple trims over its production years often included such variations, necessitating specific glass types that aren’t universally interchangeable.
Additionally, the availability of aftermarket parts can affect pricing. For older models of the King Aluminum, sourcing a windshield from third-party manufacturers could be more challenging due to limited production runs, thereby driving costs up. Conversely, more recent redesigns have seen wider availability of aftermarket options, which may help reduce expenses.
Model year changes play a significant role in pricing adjustments too. Major redesigns or updates, such as those seen in the early 2000s with the inclusion of modern electronic components, can alter the cost landscape significantly. The advancement from basic windshields to those integrated with technology reflects a pivotal shift in pricing dynamics over the different generations of the King Aluminum.
In summary, the windshield replacement cost for a Chevrolet King Aluminum is influenced by ADAS features, trim levels, the availability of aftermarket parts, and significant model year changes. Each of these elements contributes to the overall expense, which can vary widely depending on the specific combination present in your vehicle.

Chevrolet King Aluminum Average Windshield Replacement Cost By Year
Not all windshields are built—or priced—the same. The cost to replace the glass on a Chevrolet King Aluminum depends on its year, trim level, and the amount of technology integrated into the windshield itself. Our average pricing reflects real-world replacement data across thousands of vehicles, then adjusts for the specific features found on your Chevrolet King Aluminum. Here’s how the range breaks down:
High-End Range
Some Chevrolet King Aluminum configurations—especially newer or premium trims—come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as lane-keeping cameras, rain sensors, heated glass, or heads-up displays.
These require OEM-grade glass and a full ADAS recalibration after installation. Because of the precision equipment and labor involved, these versions land at the top end of the price range.
Mid-Range
Many modern Chevrolet King Aluminum vehicles include a few key sensors, like forward-collision or lane-departure cameras, but don’t need OEM glass. These jobs involve some recalibration and additional setup beyond a simple install, which places them in the middle of the pricing spectrum.
Low-End Range
Base trims or older Chevrolet King Aluminum versions usually feature plain laminated glass with no built-in electronics. These are the most straightforward to replace, requiring no recalibration or specialty parts, and therefore fall in the lowest cost tier.

Chevrolet King Aluminum: repair or replace?
A chip smaller than a quarter or a crack shorter than about three inches can usually be repaired — faster and far cheaper than a full replacement. Replacement is the safer choice when the damage is longer than a dollar bill, sits in the driver’s line of sight, reaches the edge of the glass (which weakens the whole windshield), or goes through both layers. A qualified shop can confirm which option your Chevrolet King Aluminum qualifies for.
Does insurance cover a Chevrolet King Aluminum windshield?
Whether insurance covers your Chevrolet King Aluminum windshield depends on your comprehensive coverage and deductible. A few states require insurers to waive the glass deductible entirely, and some insurers waive it for small chip repairs. See our guides to states with zero deductible for comprehensive glass claims and states with glass endorsement coverage to check the rules in your state.

They showed up on time, were professional, and very honest. A few months ago, the wire in my front driver-side window popped, and I had it repaired by another mechanic—but he clearly didn’t know what he was doing because it broke again. Glass Brothers quoted me $300 to replace the regulator based on my description of the issue. When they arrived, they found the regulator was actually still good—the previous repairman just hadn’t put the window back into the clips. Instead of charging me the full $300, they adjusted the price to $125 since the $165 regulator wasn’t needed.

Had my truck window broken out Friday night and they were able to replace it Monday morning and at a much better price than other places I got quotes from. Great service and price. I hope I don’t need their service again but if I do they will be the first place I call.
