Volkswagen Crafter Windshield Replacement Cost
The Volkswagen Crafter, a staple in the light commercial vehicle segment, was first introduced in 2006, marking a collaboration between Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz. This partnership resulted in a rugged yet versatile van capable of catering to various commercial needs. The first-generation Crafter was essentially a sibling to the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, sharing many components and engineering insights. In 2017, the second-generation Crafter debuted, featuring a complete redesign and severing its ties with Mercedes-Benz, giving Volkswagen full control over its production. This model brought substantial updates that emphasized innovation and adaptability.
When it comes to windshield replacement cost for the Volkswagen Crafter, several factors dictate the pricing. A primary factor is the model year, with the first-generation Crafter typically having more straightforward replacement processes due to fewer integrated technologies in the windshield. However, the second-generation models, particularly post-2017 variants, are equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including rain sensors, lane-keeping assist, and front collision alerts. These technologies require calibrated installations, which can significantly elevate replacement costs.
Trim levels also play a critical role in determining the windshield replacement cost. Higher trims often incorporate more advanced technology and features on the windshield, contributing to more expensive replacements. For instance, luxury trims might include heated windshields or even specialized coatings, requiring precision work and sometimes original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts.
The availability of aftermarket parts can also influence the cost. Generic windshields for earlier models may be abundant and relatively inexpensive, while newer or less common variants might rely heavily on OEM parts, offering fewer cost-saving alternatives.
Finally, major redesigns and technology upgrades, like those seen in post-2017 Crafter models, have increased the prevalence of sensors and specialized glass, which notably impact the pricing of windshield replacements. Hence, when assessing windshield replacement cost for the Volkswagen Crafter, it is crucial to consider these factors, as they can significantly influence the final expenditure.

Volkswagen Crafter Average Windshield Replacement Cost By Year
Not all windshields are built—or priced—the same. The cost to replace the glass on a Volkswagen Crafter depends on its year, trim level, and the amount of technology integrated into the windshield itself. Our average pricing reflects real-world replacement data across thousands of vehicles, then adjusts for the specific features found on your Volkswagen Crafter. Here’s how the range breaks down:
High-End Range
Some Volkswagen Crafter configurations—especially newer or premium trims—come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as lane-keeping cameras, rain sensors, heated glass, or heads-up displays.
These require OEM-grade glass and a full ADAS recalibration after installation. Because of the precision equipment and labor involved, these versions land at the top end of the price range.
Mid-Range
Many modern Volkswagen Crafter vehicles include a few key sensors, like forward-collision or lane-departure cameras, but don’t need OEM glass. These jobs involve some recalibration and additional setup beyond a simple install, which places them in the middle of the pricing spectrum.
Low-End Range
Base trims or older Volkswagen Crafter versions usually feature plain laminated glass with no built-in electronics. These are the most straightforward to replace, requiring no recalibration or specialty parts, and therefore fall in the lowest cost tier.

They don't serve certain areas of Seattle, WA, but the shop was only about 15 minutes of driving. I could have gotten in the day before, but opted to wait one day. The individual that repaired my broken car window was amazing. The cost was about $100 cheaper than the previous company that replaced the same window in early to mid 2022. Thank you for the amazing service!
